I would like to customize my Raging Bull.

I am looking for a pistolsmith to do minor trigger work and parkerize my .454 Casull. Wilson Combat was somewhat rude when I asked them, and most of the other companies that I contacted didn't even bother replying to my email.

Any suggestions?

Niko

The trigger on the Raging Bull is fine. But if you want a lighter trigger, order a reduced power hammer spring from Wolff Springs. I did that to my 454 Casull and the double-action pull is now more managable. The bead-blasted finish is great and satin smooth I don't want to change it to anything. The most important modification I did to the Raging Bull is the compensator. The factory porting i.e., those 8 little holes really do nothing to help counter-act muzzle flip and recoil. The physics of an effective compensator is simple: dump as much expanding gas perpendicular to the bore as fast and as much as possible before the bullet exits the muzzle. Of course the recoil generated by the action and reaction of the bullet existing the muzzle is not counter-actable. At least we can reduce the other part of the recoil produced by the expanding gas shooting out of the muzzle, and that is where an effective compensator will help. I cut the port recess completely out. That means instead of 4 holes on either side, I made that area one big long hole the entire length of the recess. The recoil reduction was signification. Firing 300gr XTP bullet at 1550 f.p.s with factory porting the muzzle flipped up about 60 degree and the gun still in my hands moved back about 12 to 13 inches. I had my friend video taped the firing process. With the port enlarged, firing the same bullet resulted in muzzle flip only 35 degree, and the gun still in my hand moved back about 8 inches. My firing hand did not hurt as much as before for a session of 100 rounds at the range.
