Thanks Joe...I own a Smith 32/20 that Hosea "HOSEY" Pruitt , a cattleman and city Marshall for Columbia La used to shoot and kill a man in the city of Columbia , I've meant to research this just have never had time....I 've heard the story since I was big enough to sit on the courthouse square with Daddy and keep My mouth shut and listen....This man and Hosey got into a ruckess in a Gro store , man pulled a knife , Hosey back all the way out of the store to the porch , told Dave "Dave You know I have a bad leg , I can't back down these steps , stop or I'm gonna shoot You , Dave kept comein Hosey shot Him in the chest.....one rd. , Dave went down , died the next day

WOW Wild Bill. That's some history your .32-20 carries. Your daddy lived in some excitin' times, and thankfully you had the brains to STFU and absorb as much as you could. I often wonder what stories an old weapon could tell, and I find myself fondling them with my eyes closed while hoping to pick up a vibe. It ONLY works on TV..lol. I found this article VERY interesting, and I'm glad that you enjoyed it also.

I only have one, a Colt Army Special. It's ugly finish wise, but locks up tight and shoots great.

Thumbs up

I've had two .32-20s--An old Five Inch Smith and Wesson and a Colt Police Positive Special. I still have the Colt. I don't so much buy my Guns as Adopt them--and barring some outrageous turn of fortune, they'll be with me till the end.....

But if I could have it so, just by wishing it so--I'd rather have the Colt in .38 Special. I got all hopped up to own a .32-20 reading Skeeter Skelton, Elmer Keith and even Colonel Cooper had an occasional kind word to say about the old Cartridge.

Shooting the two old fixed sight Guns along side my Ruger .30 M1 Carbine Revolver one day---the .30 M1 Carbine Round totally eclipses the .32-20.

The Carbine Round is a Screamer, and still not Phantastic at taking game.

True, if you load it with full-power Factory FMJs.
The Ruger can be loaded with the Equivalent of good stiff +P .32 S&W Long loads; Equivalent to Factory .32-20; and Equivalent to the Keith/Skelton +P .32-20 Revolver loads--and still have another 300-350 Potential FPS on tap.

When most of the loads are going to be factory .32-20 level and lower, the 7 1/2" Barrel can be unnecessary. If I ever get another Ruger .30 M1 Carbine Revolver, I'd like to get the Barrel cut to 5"; have it Nickeled and add Stag Grips. (Though I'd also like a Full-Sized Ruger too.)

A EMF in .30 M1 Carbine would be nice. I'd really like to get a Smith K or L Frame, if they made them.

So long as people think that they have to feed .30M1 Carbine Caliber Guns a steady diet of full-powered loads, it will be seen as a freakish oddity, and not a Great Small Bore Pistol Caliber.

The Colt? He was stolen, and miracle of all miracles--he was returned a couple years later.

He had been bare, lightly pocked metal all over--but somewhere along the line, someone had given him an excellent Blue job. He still had the Rosewood grips a friend made for him. (I Bought him for $80 with cracked Plastic Stocks).

When--and if--I get a little money to spare--I'd like to get him Bright Nickeled and fitted with genuine Mother of Pearl Grips....

Either him or my .32 ACP Walther PP--Maybe Both. I've always wanted something .32; Nickeled and Pearl Handled.....
