F&A revolver

I've got a Forehand & Wadsworth six shot revolver pat Jan 03 1888 with serial number 2419. I'm trying to find out what caliber and what it's worth. It was my grandfather's pistol and I need to find a gunsmith that can work on it.

The company changed names several times over the late 1800's.
The progression was complicated with some guns marked F&W made by Hopkins and Allen.
It was apparently called Forehand and Wadsworth only from 1887 to 1889, but as said some Hopkins and Allen made guns were marked as Forehand and Wadsworth.

They made small revolvers, usually top break in common 1800's black powder calibers like the .32 and .38 S&W, a solid frame double action called the British Bulldog, a small revolver in .41 called "The Swamp Angel", and in large frames in calibers like the .44-40, .44 Russian, etc.

Caliber is going to depend on the model or size.
Note that all these were made in the black powder days and are UNSAFE to fire with any modern ammunition.

Getting repairs is going to be tough.
Do the the age and almost total lack of any parts available few gunsmiths will even look at one.

Gun Parts Corp carry about all the few parts that are available:

FOREHAND & WADSWORTH Accessories | Numrich Gun Parts

It's possible a few specialty gunsmiths will attempt repair, but these custom specialist charge absolute top dollar when they will take in new work.
Your best chance of finding one is to get on one of the Cowboy shooting sites and ask about gunsmiths who may work on one of these antiques.
I believe the S.A.S.S. (Single Actions Shooting Society) may be able to help:
