I'm thinking about picking up a new little 22 lr to teach my nephews how to shoot and am thinking about a revolver, since that's what I learned on and I think it's kind of "traditional" to teach someone with one. Just my opinion. So, my question is Ruger Single Action or a S&W double action. Which models do you guys think? OR, should I just go for a semi-auto? |

It's an easy question. S&W K .22 Target and a ton of ammo  Mike

I think new shooters are best served with the double-action revolver's swing-out cylinder. It makes it very easy to determine if the revolver is loaded. The single-action's ejection rod/loading gate configuration does not lend itself to this as well. Depending on the nephews' ages (as relates to hand size), I would think that a K-22 or the smaller J-framed 4" Model 63 would be ideal. Rosco |

I think the Taurus 94 SS with 4 inch barrel, 9 shot cylinder, is an excellent value. I paid $270 plus tax and $10 background check. I ordered the revolver through a dealer. Works well with HKS speedloader, 22-HR. Allison |

i've got a single six with the 22 mag cylinder as an option. great little pistol imo. first pistol i ever shot was the single six my dad got when when he turned 21. now, a single six is the tradition when you turn 21 in our family. classic looking little pistols, fun to shoot, fun to carry.
