Broken rebound spring in 22/45

I was at the range yesterday firing my 22/45 and I put about 300 rounds through it. I like this pistol a lot and it is always one of my "must takes" to the range. Anyway I have had this pistol since August of 2003 and I probably have put 3500 rounds through it.

I got home and I disassembled it for cleaning and I noticed that a very small spring was broken right underneath the firing pin. What a surprise! I always wondered how long a spring of this fine of a gauge would hold up. Anyway the correct name for this spring is a rebound spring and I called up Ruger in Prescott, AZ to see how much a replacement would cost. Much to my surprise they just took my name and address and said that I'd have a new one in about a week. I'm pleased with this level of service because Ruger doesn't brag about any type of warranty on its guns.

The rebound spring only costs 50 cents, according to their online parts list, but I'm just glad I didn't get nickel and dimed by them. So this is just a thumbs up post for the fine people who work at Ruger in Prescott, AZ.

Thumbs up

This is only the second such failure that I have heard about in these pistols! The other one one was in my own SS mark two about 10 years ago. Good, accurate guns. I have Clark target triggers in mine and recommend them along with the Volquartzen sear and hammers! With a bit of fine-tuning, a very nice trigger pull can be achieved.
Just throwing my 2$ on the table. Been using these Mark I, II, III series pistols for nearly 40 years now and they hold a very special place in my world.
