| SKS info
I have an SKS that I bought in '95 for $85.00. The receiver is stamped "RUSSIA SKS 7.62X39 Springfield Inc Geneseo IL." Does anyone know anything about Springfield's involvement with the SKS? Also, has anyone tried those Chinese military fixed 20 round magazines? |

Well, there is a company named Springfield Inc located in Geneseo IL but it's not Springfield arms. Based on the time I would guess that your particular SKS was imported by that company. Lot's of small batches of guns came in during the early 80s as conditions in the old Soviet Union began getting back towards normal. There were lots of old armories that were churning out all the old stock and doing nearly anything to raise money.

The Chinese 20 round fixed work very well in the SKS's, i have 2 of them for my 2 Chicom rifles. I have one fixed so that i can drop the 20 and stick in a 30 without having to disassemble the rifle. Works fine. | |
