LMT MRP

Anyone tried one of these out?

Looked at their new enhanced bolt group?

Looked at the defender 2000 lower?

Thoughts?

I just received a catalog from the a while back. I am planning on purchasing one in the spring. I am wanting to get a LMT MRP CQB with a 10.5 inch barrel and also a 14.5 inch barrel. They look to be very nice and from what I have heard, very well made.

I have heard that a lot of guys have had problems with their "enhanced" carriers so I am going with a standard.

I picked up one of their Defender 2000 complete carbines. No problems yet.

LMT MRP ....

Mine runs great. I really like it. It has the shorter CQB rail with a 16" barrel. I'll get the 10.5 tube for it eventually. It's a 1/7 twist barrel and since it's free-floated the accuracy is great.

I've posted a review of TDI's Tactical Rifle I on this board as well as in the Training & Tactics section (I normally don't cross-post, but don't know how many AR fans here also go to T&T).

I used my MRP at TDI, and the review includes a description of how this particular rifle was set-up, along with pics.

The TDI review is here:

I love my LMT MRP!

Here she is!

I already know the front BUIS is not on the rifle in this photo.

Here is my MRP, with both 16 and 10.5 inch barrels! This is my duty rifle and the only thing different that I have done is add a Tango Down Vertical foregrip.

Very nice, INTrooper4255!

I wish I had the option of a 10.5" barrel but I'm a civilian in CA.
In any case my other barrel is a 16" 6.8mm one. I need to get some magazines and try this one out.

I'm just about to build another based on a Mega Lower. My POF (gas piston) upper just arrived after almost 5 months of waiting. It's going to feature the same Magpul grip but an ACE SOCOM stock and an EOtech 553 I just got. I'll post when I'm done.

INTrooper & Dascoyne:

Both of your MRPs have nice set-ups. Mine's still running 100%.

LMT's engineering of the MRP really takes the versatility of an AR to another level.

Re: LMT MRP

Thought I'd bump this old thread for those interested in LMT's MRP upper ...

A while back I SBR-ed mine with the 10.5" tube, like INTrooper4255's, except mine uses Noveske's KX3 FS.

I've shot it quite a bit with no issues. Current round-count is just over 3000. About 1500-rds went through it in a tactical rifle course.

I did a write-up on my experiences with the gun - the build details, training with it, and my "learning curve" generally about SBRs. It's posted at the following link, along with pictures, as SBR FUN!. Clicking on the pics gives a larger, clearer view:

For those considering SBRs, it might be helpful.
