Feeding the BEAST! High Octane diet?

This could probably go into the "Precision Rifles" or "Reloading" section...but will fit just as well here.

Recently acquired a DPMS AP4 myself. Finally talked a friend out of it. In the past, with the right ammo, I've 1 holed for 5 shots with this rifle @ 100yds. Now, it is mine and I want to develop a handload that will do the same. I'm partial to the Sierra 165 HPGK bullet and will work exclusively with that projectile. Because of the availability, I'll be using LC brass and Winchester LR primers.

So...the QUESTION:
Has anybody developed a favorite load for the DPMS that they'd want to share....hopefully utilizing any of the above mentioned components??????

I'm very interested in OAL seating depth, crimp or not and type powder and weight used.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO.....TommyGun.......since You beat Me to that rifle an I told the Hand You beat out of the rifle a long time back to give Me first shot at it an ,At that time He said " I won't ever get rid of this one" and showed Me some one hole groups shot with said rifle , now , does this mean Your load develoment with intent toward extreme accuracy while hangin' around 3200fps with the 165 gr bullets in the Thurty Wild Bill will now be placed on the back burner while You play with the .308 at 2650fps ? And You already have a Remmy 700 L T R that shoots around .310 in groups ????...You get time call Me tomorrow , tell You about the weekend adventure over on the Texas side.....Jude called just before We started the first set , talked about buyin some Hands 2011 that had been accuru railed....hope I was still sober enough at that point to give Him good advice....Texas Bar B Que , big crowd of Texas Darlin's , Makers Mark and Shiners Boch , a HAND can easy get Hisself to a place that's hard to get back from...Stared Our last set around midnite, "somethin magic about bein' drunk 'round midnite and playin good music in Texas" straped My Tele on, bassman got close said , "Wild Bill , might better zip up Your Zipper" I said ,"hay slick , ain't nothin' but whores and queers look for unzipped zippers"

First in line.....

Gotta dispute that remark! "I" was first in line for that shootin iron! NOT YOU! If'n YOU remember correctly, it was MY trigger finger that shot those "one hole" groups with it. AND....after the Hand backed out on me (3) different times in the past, when he called and said he'd sell it....I RAN with the cash!

But....it shot those groups with specific off the shelf ammo. I want to develop a hand load that will do the same...just with Military brass, Winchester primers and the Sierra 165 HPGK. And, as you so neatly pointed out, I will have them running just shy of 2700fps out of the 16" barrel!

No...I ain't forgot the 30WB. YOU just ain't never delivered on the deal. Kinda' hard to work on load development when I ain't got the gun or components required to work up the loads!

BILL...WHERE IS THE GUN???????

Oh....I know what the problem is.....

YOU waz out HONKY TONKIN!

That's some DAMN fine accuracy outta a semi-auto .308. The SA M1A/M14's don't shoot like that, although I've never had the luxury of workin' up a load for a particular weapon. i've only shot 147 gr. GI issue Ball ammo outta well used, regular issue weapons. (NOT a weapon built by the AMU @ Benning, etc.) I'm assuming that the DPMS and M1A/M14 must have different rates of twist, if the AP4 loves that heavier bullet.....

25+ years ago, Shooting editor Jim Carmichael said in his book, COMPLETE BOOK OF THE RIFLE, that his Spld M1A SuperMatch was truly a 1/2 MOA rifle. It's the ball ammo that is to blame, mostly. It is made for use in Belt fed mg's, so its accuracy is of virtually no concern to its makers.
