I have a Remington 760 in .30-06 that belonged to my father. On a good day with moderate handload (150 gr. at 2400fps) it shoots 4-5 MOA. Factory loads are even worse.

What can one do to make a 760 more accurate, short oftrading it for a bolt action?

Cohee...is that 5" group druk or sober....Knowin You Redneck HillBillys , I kinow the answer.....Never seen a rifle that belonged to a Redneck HillBilly for one season that didn't need the barrel recrowned....You can't jamm the muzzle into 4" of goat dookey ,skoal ,and red clay mud on a rusted out pickup floorboard and still expect 1/2" groups.....

I represent your inference. It was shooting 5-6 inches when sober. However my cousin Cooter, I find out, used the barrel for a jack handle when he had a flat tire on his Studebaker pickup. Wish that boy would quit buying five dollar used tires.

After that, it shot nice buckshot patterns.

Can a master gunsmith like you bend my barrel back to 5" groups?

My Son.....Have You ever heard of a "CATTLE GAP" some parts of this country called a"CATTLE GUARD"...in North Louisiana , usually made of scrap oilfield pipe or old railroad iron....Just insert the barrel in the space between the long iron and been or bend the barrel in the direction it needs to go...Don't need a MASTER Gunsmith for this job....maybe put the barrel in a piece of fairly close fittin PVC to protect the finish

None of my kin have been anywhere near this place since my cousin Mumford got banned for life. He got caught runnin' nitro in a gas class tiller race.

Somebody tol' me that you got beat by a 9 year old girl in the 2011 purple hull pea shelling contest at the Emerson purple hull pea festival, which sponsors the tiller races.
