Flexi-tab Upgrade Question
I have an older Remington 870 and would like to upgrade to the flexi-tab lifter system. I know I can strip this gun down completely so if someone will tell me the parts I need for the change I would like to do it myself. Assuming of course that's all there is to it. Thanks for the help.

The flexitab conversion process and parts needed are somewhat uncertain.
Brownell's sell a flexitab carrier conversion kit for $65.00.
Apparently the Remington factory specifies a new bolt as part of the conversion, but a number of gunsmiths say a new bolt ISN'T necessary, and say that only a flexitab carrier is required.
New flexitab carriers can be bought from Brownell's and Gun Parts Corporation.
If you have any doubt, there are several options:
1. Buy a copy of Jerry Kuhnhausen's book on gunsmithing Remington shotguns.
He discusses the conversion in the book, what's needed, and how to do it.
2. Buy a used trigger group with the flexitab assembly already in place.
3. Buy a flexitab carrier, install it, and test it.

At a minimum you need the carrier, and slide plate.
The kits P/N 93340 (chrome bolt) & 93339 (black bolt) come with the 2 items I list plus the bolt.
