P226 Elite

I was in a local gunshop about a month ago and saw a P226 Elite, it was a 226 with a nitron coating over stainless steel slide and aluminum alloy body. It had ELITE stamped on the side of the slide. It also had some trigger modifications. To my dismay it was sold before I could buy it. Has anyone else seen this model?

Pictures only.
The main thing I like about it is the beavertail, similar to a 1911 add-on.

Actually, the key feature is the Short Reset Trigger. I'm hoping that it's a drop-in item and SIGARMS will allow one to purchase the parts.

I handled them at SHOT. The short reset trigger is markedly different from standard. The beavertail is comfortable. I think it real progress.

[OT, but I admired the P220 SAO, the gun Sigarms should have made to start with instead of jumping on the 1911 mutant bandwagon.]

Jim, you say the trigger is different - is it good ? Or is a value assessment too subjective?

Well, they call it Short Reset and it is just that. The reset from the DA first shot to the SA second (or SA to SA thereafter) is short and distinct. If you train to feel and catch the reset for fast shooting it is a substantial improvement over the previous standard.

You can also send it in on Sigs service plan, and get two trigger jobs done. The other one takes 2 lbs out of the DA and about 1 lb out of the SA. Both services are about $150 a piece.

I am not 100% sure, but I believe the SRT eliminates one of the internal safetys. To fully utilize the short reset you must practice using drills that take advantage of the SRT.

I have a Stainless Elite 226 in .40. I put the E2 grips on it, which make a marked difference and preclude the incessant short Sig grip screws from ever being a problem again. The gun itself is a tack driver, and the single action and re-set are incredible. The beavertail makes a big difference in shooting. I really like this gun.

Problem: This is a HEAVY GUN. I think its about 42 ounces + or -, and it is downright uncomfortable to carry all day in street clothes, even with good leather.

Running the 180 grain Federals through it is more pleasant than any other .40 I have shot, which is probably attributable to its size and weight. It balances well and points fast and doesn't overswing in transitions. Fit and finish are great for a factory gun.

Did I say it was heavy?
