In a pistol the size and weight of a Sig 229, does the .357Sig have more or less muzzle flip? Recoil?

Have both .357S & .40 bbl's. for a 229. The gun is a pussycat with the .40 & has markedly more flip with the .357S but not objectionably so. FWIW, you can usually find OEM bbl's. for the 229 at around $125 ea. |

What Pistolero said. I'm in the same situation, with both barrels for my 229. Louder noise and more muzzle flip with the .357 SIG, but still very controllable. _________________ Regards, AZFred [ This Message was edited by: Fred on 2002-01-08 11:54 ] |

Recently shot SIG 229, HK USP and the Beretta Cougar in .40 and .357 SIG, side by side. The concensus of opinion between nine accomplished shooters was that; the .357 was certainly louder without muffs. The .357 had a bit more muzzle jump, but none of us found it objectionable. Sure its hotter than a standard forty, but not all that big a deal. FN |

I think it's the opposite. The .357sig is much louder and has more blast, but i think the .40S&W has more recoil.

I liked it. Recently had a chance to shoot about 50 rounds through a custom 1911 in 357 sig. Nice & controllable w/ distictive BOOM!

On mine, less muzzle flip and perceived recoil with .357SIG, but definitely more blast and report.
