No cure

I've been suffering from that affliction for a while. CDNN was selling 6906s and 5906s in their last catalogue and I went to get my toy store tpo order me one. When I walked in one of the first things I spotted was a nice 669 on the shelf so I bought it and decided I was happy. Now if I can find an original model 645 I'll be happier. 8D

Al you DO have the disease brother. One of the pistols that I regret letting go of was a minty Model 39-2 in nickel. Much as I have never had much use for the 9mm cartridge, I bought this from a guy who needed fast money at a very good price. It was SO DAMN PRETTY, that I wish that I had kept it as a safe queen........

9mm

Joe; I am not much about the 9mm either. As I aged and had health issues I began to buy more in line with leaving my guins to my Marine sons and they both drank the government Kool Aid concerning the 9mm and they like it best. Not that they don't like 45acps.

It's just what their generation has been exposed to and trained with. Young wheelgunners are few and far between also. It's good for us old geezers that like those obsolete weapons fashioned from steel and wood......

In 1972, I bought a 39 from a distributor. It was nickled and the serial number was 125,000. I paid $150 for it if I remember. For thirty years I had buyers remorse because I had a gun that was too pretty to shoot.

Then a collector became smitten with my gun. After several years of lust, he finally made me an offer I could not refuse. I bought a Les Baer Super Tac with the profits from that deal.

I sure wish all gun trade/swap/sell stories had a happy ending like that.

Cohee:

If they came up with a cure for this disease, it would be similar to the form of the Series 80 firing pin safety... A cure for a disease that isn't. ;)

I got smart and quit chasing woemen on a daily basis, thank god I got over trying to drink the world dry, but I don't think anything will cure me of the rush you get from deeply blued steel and nicely figured wood. Least I hope not.
