Victory: "long" action vs. "short" action, etc.

I am told the hammer, trigger and internals in a Victory Smith do not interchange with those of a later Model 10. Anyone care to elaborate?

Simple. After the war, S&W made design changes to the action.
This required a redesign of the parts and they no longer interchanged with older guns.
Since then, S&W has made a number of changes internally, and you have to take care buying parts to insure they'll fit the version of gun you have.
