Need help with S&W Model 36

I was left a Model 36 Chiefs "Special" by my father, I have taken it to different gun dealers and they could not identify the serial number, which is, ABW0600.
The only thing I've found is the "A" is for alloy frame and the "W" is for wood grip. I'm having no luck on the year this was made and a value. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You'll probably get a much better response on the S&W forum:

You're right and I missed properly reading the Op's post.

S&W serial number letter prefixes have nothing to do with the features of the revolver.

Among my S&W stainless models I had ABJ, AHL, AUN, BEV, BFK, BNR, and AEH.

All of these were stainless steel and were various models and calibers, all bought in the 1980's.

Late to the show but ABWxxxx was made in 1983 and a M-36 is blued Steel, not alloy and should be a -1 model.
