Please Help iDENTIFY this Springfield
I bought a used Springfield this week and I was hoping someone could help me ID it. It claims to be a TRP but there are some odd things about it.
1. No night sites
2. No front cocking serations
3. A old style commander hammer, not a "delta" type hammer
4. No mag well, nor is there a place where one can be screwed in.
5. It has TRP on both sides of the slide and TACTICAL on the frame.
It's a nice pistol, tight and shoots very nice. But I am curiuos if I got someone's parts pistol or if it came from the factory this way.

You have an early TRP. I have one identical to yours and it shoots great. If you e-mail Deb at Springfield and give her the serial number she will get back to you telling when it was built. Mine was built in 95.

Re: Deb's e-mail
I've sent a few unsolicited emails to them and and always received a prompt, helpful reply.

I don't think Deb minds at all. She was more than happy to research my Loaded a few months back.
I don't know if it in her job description or not, but it seems to be a service she does for us SA owners.
She is a regular poster on 1911forums.
