Springfield EMP ?
Looking for some feedback from anyone who has bought this pistol or has used one. Am considering purchasing and don't want any surprises for this price point.
Gun feels great in my hand and I will be using it for concealed carry.
Also looking at the Kimber Ultra Carry and the Colt Defender. Comments on any of these are welcome.
Thanks for the help.

A friend has one of the first ones delivered to the public. It is now his favorite gun - IDPA and concealed carry. I shot it a few times and agree it is very cool - price was under 800 which is reasonable. I will ask him to stop by and make some comments - it may have been discussed earlier on this forum.
My remark is simple - I would prefer more rounds than 9 in the magazine with a 9mm.

I bought one of the first Springfield EMPs available in this area (serial number 4xx), and have fired it in excess of 800 rounds. It has been used for general practice and in several local IDPA matches, all with great success (I even used it in an IDPA classifier match...ESP...and did not feel at all limited by the gun's compact size). It is my current, and likely long-term, carry gun. Although I currently own close to 40 handguns, this one is by far my favorite. Completely reliable. As accurate as any other handgun I own.
You can not go wrong in adding it to your collection. And if there are any surprises, they will be pleasant surprises.
Ps: For more elaborate discussions regarding this gun, take a look at the EMP strings at www.thefiringline.com and www.thehighroad.org.

Gotta admit - I just got an EMP and ran 200 rounds of 3 different types of ammo through it and I flat fell in love with the little gun. No malfunctions, amazingly accurate for its size, and surprisingly light recoil. Torques a little counter-clockwise, but it is not very perceptible.
The gun absolutely amazed me - and I am a Glock guy, for the most part. I own as many 1911's as I do Glocks, but this little gun is definitely going to get a LOT more use. First gun in a long time that has impressed me that much.
I emphatically recommend the EMP.

I've been too the CDNN site, can't find ANY guns. I'm stuck between the EMP[which I love!!] and the Kimber ultra carry .45 more bang with the kimber and also cheaper, could someone chime in with a site that I can get this EMP[$1,020 here] cheaper?? and anyway to talk me out of the Kimber 45? Also,I really need a compact,it will be one of the 2.
Thanks from a new guy on this forum

I have one, and really like it. I held off buying a 9mm 1911 style because I owned a Colt 9mm years ago, and wasn't happy with the spacers in the mags. Springfield shrunk the frame size to fit the cartridge, and they has a winner as far as I'm concerned.
