Trojan Bushing Replacements

In the process of exchanging grips on my Trojan 9MM with a friend in the States. I have three of the four bushings out. The 4th is very tight. Do any of you guys have a suggestion on how to get the GD thing out? I can use the thin grip bushing with the fatter grips but he needs all four of my bushings. May have to order him four bushings from STI.

trojan bushings

In converting my 45 acp Trojan 5.0 from thin to thick bushings, I was able to get all 4 of mine out with a correctly sized hollow ground screwdriver.

To avoid "buggering" up the bushings, I took another lister's tip of alternately tightening and loosening a tiny bit at a time. Eventually they came out intact.

best wishes,

Tim

Would have helped to heat the bushing to release the lock tight as well. I have a soldering gun and will heat the darn thing to get it out. Actually the thin bushion is OK for the thicker grips, just doesn't work in reverse. I have arrange to have new bushings sent to my friend in CO who I traded grips with. thanks for the reply and have a Merry Christmas

Ha, I have the fix for this....

Robert,

You can search my post on the 1911 forum Gunsmith section grip bushings the solution. Basically you need an easy out also called a screw extractor.

It's a bit that you slowly drill into the bushing the threads on it go the opposite of normal when it bites in it turns the bushing out. I got all 4 of my thing bushings out with no isses or frame thread damage. Worked like a charm I used a #2 easy out any hardware store should have them.
