STI vs. SVI

I need some assistance and opinions. I'm working on a college project comparing STI vs. SVI's websites. I do not know much about these particular companies, so I figured I would come to the experts - the people who actually use and/or know about their products. If you would be so kind, could you please give me your opinions on the following questions regarding each of the companies websites. Then please reply here, or email me at [email protected] . Thanks!

What’s the “curb appeal” on these two companies?

Which company’s gun would you choose if delivery time and price were the same?

Who’s site has more real content, and information?

Who’s site is easier to navigate for the layman?

Who has innovative features, both for their product and for the website?

How do you feel about their:
marketing?
pricing?
customer service?
sponsorship?
innovation?

"Curb Appeal"- Both offer weapons with features found on normally custom built weapons but offered, at least, on a semi-custom time frame. Some wait but less than from a custom smith, and for good reason, more emplyees and faster turn around.
SVI- and this is very subjective, depending on a number of desires, which effect/affect delivery time. This question should be rephrased.
SVI- On the basis of sales information without actual knowledge of both products.
STI- The SVI site tends to boggle the mind with information when one first approaches it. This site, to me, anticipates that one has made a decision, beforehand.
Having said that, after several visits, and some time to think about the possibilities and options, SVI's site will seemingly eliminate the need for interaction with anyone. I think this is not the actual case.
STI's approach is less technical in the fact that they have predetermined that interaction with them on a voice to voice situation is the best approach for the customer and the seller.
SVI- on both accounts, though, this is not necessarily the whole picture. Both offer comprable features common to both. SVI seems to offer more bells and whistles. Workmanship seems to be very comprable in both.
For their web site-SVI.
Let me say this about the "other" questions.
I have faced this delima and chose STI. Their pricing is "better" for the weapons I have purchsed and for the reasons I have purchased. STV would ride a wave of elitism, if that is an understandable use of the word, which is, obviously, a desirable thing for many. This should not be taken as a derrogitive view.
STI seems to fit my personality more snugly, both in approach and the pocket-book.
Would I buy from SVI? Yes! There is no negative, in my mind, concerning the company.
I would need too add this thought. Eventually the decison on either is not made based on web sites or web site appeal.
Hope this helps.
Blessings

One man's opinion

I have no STI's, but those I see shooting them seem quite satisfied with their purchases. I have 3 SVIs; a single-stack, a double-stack and a "race gun." On to your questions:

What’s the “curb appeal” on these two companies?

STI produces high-quality production guns at a fair price. There are standard models, made now as they were 20 years ago, so there are no real R&D costs. If you are looking for value, it's a good choice; if you are looking for cutting-edge innovations, you want SVI.

SVI produces virtually custom firearms (check out the Gun Builder section of its site) with numerous patented features. If you want a gun that's virtually custom, if you want a gun you won't see a dozen of (unless you're at the USPSA Nationals), if you like innovative design, you want an SVI.

Which company’s gun would you choose if delivery time and price were the same?

Easy - SVI. See above.

Who’s [sic] site has more real content, and information?

I suspect SVI, if only because Gun Builder allows you to see just how MANY options there are available.

Who’s (sic) site is easier to navigate for the layman?

I doubt that laymen are gravitating to either STI or SVI. The guns are rare, expensive and appeal to experienced purchasers, if not connoiseurs.

Who has innovative features, both for their product and for the website?

SVI. Then again, I'm biased - I shoot w/SVI's web designer!

How do you feel about their:

marketing? Both aim at the same basic market; competition handgunners.
pricing? STI is Audi; SVI is Mercedes
customer service? Each will do what it takes to keep a customer
sponsorship? Each sponsors competitors and donates to events and organizations, which are where their customers come from.
innovation? Easy - SVI. How many patents does STI hold?
