Bruce, I had an STI hicap built several years back. For whatever reason my 'smith and I never did have the success in making it as reliable as the .40 and 38 Super. The mag springs most likely were the culprit. I'm sure others have had better luck than me but thats been my experience. |

The Air Force Academy bought four 45 SV high Caps and they were nothing but a headache for me. They are gone now. Last year we bought a bunch of STI Edges and Eagles. Running great. Tom AF Shooting Team |

Same damn parts gun...although it did empty 9 rounds into a tight group while down south while infront of whitnesses  But while doing my daily chores I am finishing up a new gun for myself. Kimber frame, Caspian slide. I have spent around 25/30 hours just on the frame...frame, main, frame to slide fit and beavertail, nothing more. But it is trick  Barsto, Heinie's and a trigger system yet to go. But nothing fancy, just a copy of the one you already have but with a REAL eye for detail. The one that is supposed to show tomorrow for my next piece to carry and actually keep FOREVER is a "D" engraved 1918 Colt by master Colt engraver John Adams SR. Gotta see it before I decide how to finish it up  YES I still get excited about guns  |

It was in low light also! Has to do with more then just the gun though.  (Double Tap) < [ This Message was edited by: Shay on 2001-04-16 14:24 ] |

| Ammo sensitive
Those guns work fine but need hand loaded ammo about 1.180 or shorter 185 gr match wadcutters work great for factory ammo I have no problem with short 230fmj Factory 230 fmj is too long and hangs up in the magazine I can get 16 in a 140 mag reliably With factory ammo not even 10 and not reliable I also have a 40 which likes long ammo only And a 9 which either requires a. Mag spacer or long ammo Those guns don't like factory ammo much |
