"Old School" Heinie Gun...

A couple of years ago, I was forunate enough to be able to purchase a Richard Heinie-built Colt Series '70...the gun has an INTERESTING history, and was featured in at least one article in "American Handgunner" Magazine...I'll let the PICTURES tell the STORY...

...the gun shoots WAY BETTER than I do...I let Dave Sevigny, the reknowned "Glock Jockey", put a coupla' clip-fulls thru it last Summer at a "Steel Match"...Dave doesn't say much, but when he finished shooting it and turned around to hand it back to me, his BIG GRIN said volumes!...Hope you enjoyed seeing it....mikey357

Dane, IF I had owned the gun when you were here in ATL some time ago, I would surely have let you examine and handle it..."Timing" is everything, isn't it??? ....mikey357

Re: "Old School" Heinie Gun...

It is! I remember the original Bill Wilson/ Mike Bane book from the 1984 '80s and pictures of that gun in there,,,thinking it has to be one of the coolest guns in the book or ever Not a lot of Heinie sights out and about back then. Thanks Mike!

Man 1982...few comps, John Saw, Plaxco and Seyfried shooting. Shaw shot his first comp gun at nationals in 1980...the only one there and won in '80 and '81. Palxco obviously won in '82 with another comp gun...things had changed forever in IPSC. I first met Heinie (A class shooter.. no masters yet)) at the '85 Nationals and shot in the same squad but by then single stack, comped 38s were in the cutting edge (with custom dbl stack guns sneaking in as well) and they issued a 8 round followers at registration for us 45 guys. Single stack 5" guns had already dissappeared from IPSC by '82.

Amazing gun and a lot of history behind it. Care to share some more pictures?

Re: "Old School" Heinie Gun...

Dane, those are the best pics of the "Heinie Gun" that I've currently got...I'll hafta' try to take some from different angles the next time I have the Digital Camera out...FWIW, this gun has a "Barrel Positioner" in it, like Swenson used to use...Mr. Heinie says he built a "Few Guns" that way, and I guess I need to get pics of the "Barrel Positioner" at some point...maybe the first or second weekend in October...having a JOB that interferes with my (MUCH more IMPORTANT) hobby SUCKS!!!...Later....mikey357

I would like to get a good look at the barrel positioner...I wonder if it is a copy of Swenson's, an improvement , or what?

Re: "Old School" Heinie Gun...

Great pictures! Thanks for sharing

No question Heinie's work influenced the previous generation of guns.
Just as Swenson influenced Heine's, Wilson's and others before him.
Biggest influence in the current generation of guns is the Internet forums.

Swenson guns with barrrel positioners.
