38-45 ACP Barrels?

Anybody know of where I can get one of these barrels? I bought the RCBS reloading dies in the late 70's and have just started looking for a barrel seems like they're no longer available. Or does anyone have one they aren't using?

I checked thier site but they don't list 38-45 ACP that I can find. I think about 4 years ago I heard they might have some available and asked them to let me know when via e-mail and never heard back from them.

Thanks for the response.

I understand Clerke of Armory got the the ball rolling on the 38-45 by rechambering 38 super barrels.

This sounds like a simple job to do on a lathe. A headspace gage should be easy to make if you can find a chamber print somewhere.

I bought an Armory barrel a long time ago, but the difficulty of making and resizing brass is just not worth the hassle. A 38 Super, and especially the 9x23, is fully the equal of the 38-45 and much more practical. I drag mine out just for the lookie factor out at the range.

Guess I may just start looking around for a cheap 38 super barrel to have rechambered. I've got every thing I need for this except the barrel. Already have figured out how to get the brass formed without to much hassle with the dies. Plus I can use my regular 1911's won't need any new magazines either.

If I remember it was for bullseye shooting. The shooter was able to use a lighter recoiling gun that had the same grip angle and feel of their .45ACP gun.

Not sure of the velocities or the recoil.

I finally came across a used barrel and bought it. Well now I will have to get some loads worked up this winter and be ready to play with it next spring.

So how did the barrel perform? I've been considering buying a Barsto barrel (they still make them if you call in the order and give them 6 weeks to make it as I called a month ago to ask them if they still had the barrels on a shelf but not on their webpage) and getting a set of dies from CH4D

I found a barrel, bushing and die set on Gunbroker.com today for my 38-45 Clerke 1911 pistol project. Once the barrel and dies arrive, I'll work to set up some range time to give a report on how it goes.

If all works well, I'll have a pistol with three fitted slide groups for that particular frame: 45ACP; .400 CorBon and now 38-45 Clerke.
