Push in on the firing pin lock on the under side of the slide and push the firing pin forward into the slide. Release the locking plunger.
The firing pin should stay retracted into the slide.

If it's the normal cracks at the junction of the frame rails and the impact abutment...shoot it. Won't hurt a thing.
