Front sight

Just toying around on my project. It's still a little in the rough, but I needed a break. Any thoughts?

Yes, it's 14k that started off as an 18g wire. Out of a 12" piece, I was able to get 6 inserts out of it. They were first formed into what looked like a post earring, then they were swaged front and back with a little tool I made and fitted to the sight. The pic's actually do not do it justice, although I am making a few changes to improve it a little. I serrated the front @ 50LPI, however I believe that 75LPI may look better.

file the sight to a 90 degree angle and then install the bead.

sight picture?

Does this present a patridge(square top post) sight picture in conditions the bead would not pick up ie. indoor range. Or can you pick up flat top under deliberate sighting conditions all the time?

I haven't tried it serrated indoors yet, with the exception of in my shop, but it picks up the light real well. The sight picture is totally the gold sight without any black on top that the picture eludes too. The picture was taken in the vise where I was doing the actual sight work, you can still see the filings, so it is a little brighter and cleaner than pictured. A friend of mine said he would make a few 24k pieces for me to fit so I can see the difference, plus it is easier to work. He is actually the one who got all of this started by doing my first one, and I've just liked it ever since.
The contrast between this sight and paper targets, wether it be a black bullseye/shilouette, or an IDPA kraft colored target is amazing. Instead of there being a little dot on the end of a sight, it is actually the whole sight, so aquasition seems to be quicker also.
